Multilevel Coalition Formation Strategy for Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses Missions

چکیده
This paper investigates the problem of how to form coalitions in teams of heterogeneous vehicles. In particular, a coordination strategy is designed for unmanned vehicles to autonomously carry out the suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD) mission, which would benefit from a heterogeneous network of unmanned vehicles to search and destroy threats in an unexplored area. Inspiration for this work is drawn from natural systems, and we consider the alliance-formingbehavior of bottlenose dolphins as a guiding example.A two-phased approach is taken to develop the bioinspired strategy. First, in the context of multi-agent systems, a mathematical model is produced that expressively captures the alliance-forming behavior. Next, this model is tailored to the suppression of enemy air defenses mission: the target application. Advantages of using this bioinspired approach are discussed and simulations are provided to demonstrate its operation.

An Intelligent Agent for Supervisory Control of Teams of Unihabited Combat Air Vehicles (ucavs)
Achieving air superiority is a key tenet of U.S. fighting doctrine. To meet this requirement, flight packages of Uninhabited Combat Air Vehicles (UCAVs) have recently been proposed for future conflicts. One operations concept calls for UCAVs to possess significant onboard intelligence that enables real-time decision-making without continuous human intervention. In this case, although the vehicl...

th century, Hans Delbrück described war in terms of annihilation and exhaustion.1 A century later, after the advent of airplanes, access to space, computers, nuclear weapons, computers, and the information revolution, strategists introduced a new paradigm, effects-based operations. This concept suggests a new national objective: control of an enemy. Control is a contemporary, efficient, and hum...
متن کاملMulti-Robot Coalition Formation (REGULAR PAPER)
As the community strives towards autonomous multi-robot systems, there is a need for these systems to autonomously form coalitions to complete assigned missions. Numerous coalition formation algorithms have been proposed in the software agent literature. Algorithms exist that form agent coalitions in both super additive and non-super additive environments. The algorithmic techniques vary from n...

The maturation of the CORBA specification and standardsbased CORBA implementations has simplified the development of open distributed systems with complex functional requirements. The recent emergence of the Real-time CORBA (RT-CORBA) specification and standards-based RT-CORBA implementations should likewise simplify the development of open distributed systems with complex quality of service (Q...
متن کاملRobust Planning for Heterogeneous UAVs in Uncertain Environments
Future Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) missions will require the vehicles to exhibit a greater level of autonomy than is currently implemented. While UAVs have mainly been used in reconnaissance missions, future UAVs will have more sophisticated objectives, such as Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD) and coordinated strike missions. As the complexity of these objectives increases and higher l...
